Recentely i had a wonderful day in meanwood, where John, Stuart, Rach and myself traversed the ferns, stones and rivers. Rach also littered. ( My new camera phone takes wondeful pictures )

This last picture (and this post) is dedicated to Kyrstan( ohyourgod), our much missed (not dead) transatlantic friend. She introduced us to the beauty of mean wood, and enhanced our lives in many more ways. I promise not to eat chickens.*

A perfect little moment.
Was reading Ulysses and drinking some water.
Not paying particular attention to the glass and a single droplet fell out .. onto the book! (shock horror! .. not my book, not damaged though)
only, when i look, its landed on a single word.
"hydrophobia"
haha, amazing. tried to photograph but it doesn't show very well. believe me, too good to be made up. :-)

Quotes from last night
"Losing a member of your family is numbing and painful -but losing your phone is SO stressful, and immediate - in a way its worse" -- haha, hooray for materialism. All night long thoughts of the implications of a lost phone ran through my head - i can't even remember my mums mobile number, who else would have that!?.. how am i supposed to get it back without physically going all the way home and asking her (even though she's using my old phone number?.. my memry is fucking useless) - then all night i was having blissful dreams where i had found it. then waking to CRUSHING disappointment. The releif i have just felt seeing it on my flatmates table is analagous to orgasm.
"Imagine a society of style apartheid. different buses, schools etc. for the stylish. -- "i'm not prejudiced, but i wouldn't want my daughter to be seen with a stylish." .. involving lynchings were you hang the nathan barleys by their amusing dungaree straps."
"What is the assumptive power of animals?"
"Is noun a noun?" "Surely its an adjective?".. (dictionary says its a noun) ...
yep, thats how proper pub crawl conversations are supposed to go. we lost a lot of people,(the stylish ones, which led to the topic raised above) and one girl was a right 'tard. "i don't want to talk about any of this. anyway (to me) you're blond, you're supposed to be simple" ... grr..... stupid stupid who believes in astrology no doubt. but they're all fun really haha :)
anyway, the night was excellently rounded off with a rave. Venetian Snares and U-Ziq ..! excellent.

Tool never fail to amaze me three tracks from their new album are meant to be played simultaneousy.
first, playlist these two in this order on winamp or whatever:
Tool - Viginti Tres Tool - Wings For Marie (Pt 1)
and play this one at exactly the same time, with a different media player or your cd player: Tool - 10, 000 Days (wings Pt 2)
it will only work properly if done exactly, the singing synchs completely at the end so you can tell if you did it correct.
there's lots of theory behind it.. http://spo0nman.blogspot.com/2006/05/tool-10000-days-review.html read the first response to that awful review to see more.

I've been volunteering at the music library ever since i started at the uni, and it appears now i am a candidate for preisdency...
this is what the current president wrote about the two candidates (me obviously being one of them):
President:
Tom Hornbrook A very frequent visitor of the Music Library. He's doing a web design module next year, and wants to implement a UML website with features such as album reviews and voting for which CDs to buy (would be better than the scrap of paper on the wall...).
David Peat A rock of a volunteer. He loves his indie, especially bands you haven't heard of, and says he has "an eclectic taste and can help get more diverse types of music into the library", which is what Music Library is all about! As he's been a volunteer all year, he knows how things work and how to improve things. He wants to start a local bands section in the Library, as he knows a fair bit about them. He's pretty organised, so should be able to take care of things and make sure it all runs smoothly (making sure its open when its supposed to be isn't as easy as it sounds!). Unfortunately David has to be at work during the AGM, but he can still be voted for.
I LOVE my indie do i!?!?! haha, i suppose indie might be incroporating a lot of things there.

drunk for the 5th night in a row.... christ almighty, this has got to stop soon. heh. having a pretty much amazing time, but the work, the strongbow cans, and the pizza boxes are starting to pile up.
feeling pretty settled now. enjoying myself and not feeling as lonely/confused/detached as i did to begin with. i love my flatmates and everyone else who's a new mate, and although i do miss my old mates.. jamie and joe visiting this weekend helped that feel better.
been going out aplenty, fab cafe was most recentely, which was incredible. heh, had the best film posters ever made, and a 2001-light-fixture thing!!!!
going out as much has to stop. saving money and working has to start.

i suppose its about time i updated. but i'm sure this will seem like some gloating 'look at me having a great time post' so i'll keep it brief..
for some reason everything has been super-fantastic recentely.. been going to so many parties/events/see friends i can't even remember it all(the copious amounts of strongbow and less, but still substantial, amounts of pot have no doubt influenced my memory)... been making new friends, and making some internet ones into 'real' friendships heh... everyone has been good, and mother and sister have boyfriends to distract them so even homelife is good.
and its not even finishing soon, going to jamies tonight and still have some other parties and friends lined up in the coming weeks, and in EXACTLY one week its results("ABB, it needs to be, ABB it needs to be, come along and chant with me, ABB it needs....."etc. etc.) , and after that i can properly excited about uni.
went to the excellent club 'the warehouse' in preston the other day which was mighty fine, they played some damn fine (and surprisingly esoteric songs (radiohead b-sides and DJ Shadow remixes...amongst others).. i'm used to the lux playlist where (if lucky) i might get 'galvanise' squeezed in between mountains of kaiser cheifs and babyshambles. possibly going to the krazyhouse on saturday, so i'll see how that compares.
and to top it off, the prize for making me feel happy to be alive(and with a full working set of ears), goes to sigur ros.. for takk... (appropriately named, i wish i could just express how thankful it makes me feel to appreciate sigur ros hehe)..yes i didnt wait for the release date, terribly bad of me. also i have finally got a job interview on saturday.. seems a bit unimportant now, after such a fine summer of slacking and i only have a few weeks to go.. ah well, if i get it i may aswell do it.
anyway, i hope everyone else is having as good a time... *continue chanting for good luck*

As if there was ever any doubt, i truly DO bow down before the one i serve. Trent was incredible, i was too starstruck/disbelieveing at the london gig last time, but this time in mancs i just got in at the front and stayed there for the whole thing ( set list ) it was truly amazing, and so incredibly hot and sweaty. Saul Williams (EXCELLENT) supported. i was drunk thanks to bob nearly forcing cider down me beforehand but i must've sweated out the apples which made me smell nice. (this must be the case, as during the start of the gig for about ten minutes i distinctly felt some guy feeling my crotch for about ten minutes, even after i batted the hand away it came back!.. it could be a very protracted and long-winded mis-undertsanding or mistake, perhaps he was after someone elses crotch?) AND, after the gig, this not unnattractive girl came up and struck up a conversation, we chatted for a bit and then the mini-bus came to take me away, so i said god-bye, "Hug?" she asked so, i did, then .... oh! , a friendly peck, ah well, i'm still euphoric after the gig, i'll kiss this nameless girl, then i backed away, after the friendly threshold of the kiss was crossed, and there was some resistance to my going away haha, so i just made my polite way "oh, sorry have to go, see you later" hahahahahahaha. see, i must've smelt of apples, or why would she have picked me out of me and my perfectly handsome (and more importantly, heterosexual) mates? .. again, bob is incredible, he bought me this shirt and i love him heh, and paul too. this was definately the best gig so far, and i'm still recovering. anytime they come near this island again i'm going...
Also this weekend, i went to sigur ros with james which was really really excellent, they are the most beautiful band ever. Amina supported, they were also great, i bought their EP to listen to their saw-playing loveliness at home! ( sigur-list ) even though a bomb scare at picadilly station made it difficult to get there, and the inaccessabiltiy of the venue meant i had to leave early and run from picadilly to victoria in order to just manage to get the last train, i still had an amazing time.
one of the best weeekend ever, i'm still really happy and evern the HUGE bastard moth and daddy long legs in my room that scared the hell out of me yesterday wont change that. (i killed that ARSE long-legs, and probably did the moth, but it could still be there plotting its revenge.
Saw mike and laura at the Sigur gig, but missed Oli(at both sigur and NIN) and danny also at nin. dammit. ah well. see them soon, hopefully at the tool gig. (which is not been announced or anything BUT ITS GOING TO HAPPEN).. thats who i want to see next, or the mars volta, or GSYBE. any of them.

haven't really updated much. due to not being at college and no computer at home, (soon to change, yerrs, although i may become intolerably addicted to it) ... erm. EXAMS FINISHED. woo fucking woo .. they were all pretty good and i only have the horrible wait until results. but i think i'll do good enough to get into uni ..... if not, its slash my wrists time... but i doubt it'll come to that.
currently= reading(an insane amount)/listening/watching films (not really any good ones, was dissapointed by 'garden state')/ waiting for this job people to get back to me.... thats about it.
richs party on fri, hopefully edinburgh G8 march thingie on saturday, next weekend sigur ros and NIN ... wooooooo... and if no job news by then, i have NO PLANS.
TO ROB...... you are AMAZINGLY EXCELLENT AND I LOVE YOU FOREVER. (not only did he stop my ineffectual flapping and get me the NIN ticket in the first place but now he's GIVING it to me for free!!!!!!!! - is that the best present ever!?!?)

I finally looked up Gilbert's syndrome. "Rarely, mild jaundice may appear, and some patients report fatigue and "brain fog" during episodes of high bilirubin levels." ... brilliant, now i have a perfect excuse for my indolence. haha, what the hell is 'brain fog'. but, life expectancy is normal. so thats good. the docter told me sugar helps this, but nowhere else says that, he's probably getting subsidies from Haribo.
haven't updated in a good long while. mainly due to a diverted loyalty to myspace. and now that i've left college i'm not on computers much. but i have a few hours to brutally kill , oh andy has just arrived to 'revise' . heh,
now i can't think of anything to write. hurry up exams being over, then gigs, then uni.

I made plansfornigel a compilation to pay him back for all the lovely cd's he's made me, i'm rather proud of this. It sounds good to my ears, mostly mellow and sleepy (except for the mars volta) but very good.
1. Four Tet – As Serious As Your life 2. Martin Grech – Dali 3. Lamb – Cotton Wool 4. The Mars Volta - Eunuch Provocateur 5. Boards Of Canada – Dawn Chorus 6. Death In Vegas – Death Threat 7. Radiohead – There There 8. Bjork – Cocoon 9. Mogwai – Stop Coming To My House 10. Martin Grech – Open Heart Zoo 11. Múm – Green Grass Of Tunnel 12. Lamb – Lusty 13. A silver Mt. Zion – 13 Angels Standing Guard ‘Round The Side Of Your Bed 14. Radiohead – True Love Waits (live)
(i did nick a few from compilations people have made me heh) it's got a few songs by the same bands, as andus and i already like most of the same things IDM-wise already so these are songs atleast i don't think he's heard and will enjoy.

things are pretty good at the minute. exams kick in soon but i'm sure i'll manage :-S
I had horrible dreams last night. The main one i remember is that somehow i had managed to miss the sigur rós gig. I was still at home and i was screaming and shouting and smashing the house up in a massive fit of rage. It was horrific, just kicking the shit out of everything and being SO angry at myself for missing it. in the end i woke myself up and nearly jumped out of bed still angry. but then i realised its still may and i still have to wait 2 months. I also vaguely remember missing the NIN gig in an earlier dream :S I was very relieved to wake up and realise that they're still to come.
this past weekend was rather fun. a few nights of stoned laughing at cartoons, followed by Nadia's 18th meal, then went to the pics to see Hitchhikers (rather good) with lucy and met up with mister mike also. Fun-Fun.
( SO MANY new cds )

The film festival was fantastic. From Friday through to sunday we watched 7 films. We being ziggy32, plansfornigel(another mention ;-) thats 4 now!?-i can't hide my love for you) and myself. We were also joined by wabsnazm on friday (had a fantastic laugh about nothing all night, twas brilliant) and mary_caesarian on saturday, but since they're lame they only stayed for a film or two.
The films were (can't remember order): Orgazmo, Indiana Jones and the temple of doom, Bubba Hotep, Dodgeball, Ghostbusters 1 and we sort of half watched/fell asleep/listened to new NIN instead Ferris Buellers day off and Badlands.
Twas a fantastic weekend, will have to do it again some time, but with more alcohol (I can now officially get drunk without weeping again - woo). But unfortunately a lethargy that set in at birth, primary school, adolescence during this festival won't leave me alone.
Other fantastic things about this weekend: With Teeth :D:D:D. i also acquired 'happy songs for happy people' and 'Yanqui U.X.O.'. Both incredible.

The funeral was as expected. I got drunk at the wake, and didn't cry. Was drinking cider and black, so i'm going to stick to that from now on. NO vodka.

God is punishing me for something. He sends a brilliant thing (SIGUR ROS TOURING- THE DAY BEFORE I SEE NIN--the idea of a perfect weekend for me!?) at the exact time when i am wondering how i am going to pay for the already mentioned NIN gig and an upcoming Bill Hicks tribute night thing. The tickets come on sale on april 6th-my sisters birthday. I guess i should update this thing. As is my way, i tend to ignore this when things actually happen. erm.. yeh, my easter was a lot of fun. Lots of time spent on buses/trains/coaches. It started with my visit to james in preston land, had a lot of fun ice skating/beach combing etc.
NIN of course was the highlight of my weeks/year/life. it was beyond description in its brilliance. 'even deeper', 'piggy' and 'with teeth' were probably the best. But they were all good, the dresden dolls were pretty good too. I guess i should have more to say about them, but you had to be there to get how great it was. And(!) it all happens again, in the much closer venue of manchester. Not that london wasn't excellent. 'Twas great to see Oli after aaaages and to meet a few of his mates. Thing is, i probably wont see him again for another aaages. Ah well. July 10th isn't that far away.
I should probably not drink vodka anymore (or for that matter, drink at all). it makes me just a bit over-emotional. Crying un-provoked about the third world !?. I'm not one known to cry often, not as some macho image, its just the way i (usually) am.
my fish mogwai died. probably neglect from my visits away. My grandads mum also died around the same time as the pope (she wasn't catholic-there's nothing in that coincedence) I didn't know her very well, but mum was a bit upset.I Have a funeral to go to now.
Mmmm..listening to a live bootleg of 'with_teeth'. very nice.

In a manner not unlike The ministry of Truth i have re-written the past. glastomad is an un-person. He never existed. And if anyone thinks he did, they will remember he wrote witty, erudite pieces of satire and sardonic social commentaries of 'Generation X/Y'. He never expressed an interest in 'korn' or said anything that, when looked on with retrospect, would be embarassing or damaging to his new persona's immense street cred. But obviously you won't remember that because he never existed. and we are at war with Eurasia, and always have been.

Flossie, my cat, was giving birth as i left for college this morning. There was about 2 kittens when i'd left, don't know how many there will be when i get home. Any name suggestions, ziggy32 ->your suggestions of Adolf and Elizabeth have been duly noted.
College is boring. I'm awaiting Half term more and more, it should be fun. now i've arranged a James-athon and then in the second half its the first NINE INCH NAILS GIG. which is exciting beyond limits. So college will be something to be endured until then. before then of course i have the arthouse cinema visit with lucy and her fancyman in loverpool to go see 'the life aquatic' and then, Richs' party. its fancy dress but i dont have clue what to go as. A tramp will probably b the option i choose.
( Slightly bored and severely confused, He steadied his rifle with his target in the center, And became famous on that day in november )
have had plently of cd's recentely so i am a happy david, mostly electronic things :D. UNKLE, new chemical brothers, the postal service, 26 mixes for cash - aphex twin, orbital - snivelisation, DJ Shadow - entroducing.
that is all.
